The week of February 24 – 28 is the 2nd annual international Love Methods Week. Events are organized by Berlin Institute of Health’s QUEST Center for Responsible Research. The purpose of this week is to encourage responsible and transparent research methods use and reporting as one way of addressing science’s replication crisis. While progress has been made in recent years to make research data more openly accessible, we’ve seen less progress related to methods. Open data without clearly reported methods can only take the scientific community so far. Without an outline of the steps a researcher took to get their data from collection to findings, other researchers can’t reproduce them.

We encourage you to spend some time this week engaging with research method transparency. Just as we have data repositories to facilitate open data, research repositories, like UNL’s Digital Commons provide places for researchers to make their methods and other supplementary materials openly available.

While there is a full slate of official events, we’d like to highlight a few that we’re most excited about and think would benefit you as well.
